Re-Thinking Jeff Davis with Rev. Paul

Paul is using the occasion of the upcoming state holiday celebrating Jefferson Davis to explore the question whether or to what extent we should be holding up others as heroes and heroines.

Simon Bovinett – Administrator

Simon has served as the Fellowship’s part-time Administrator since 1999. A longtime resident of Montgomery, he is a graduate of Auburn University, where he has also taught photography as an Adjunct Instructor. From 1984 to 1988 Simon served as the first Publications Coordinator for the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. In 1988 he accepted a public relations position at Lighthouse Counseling Center, a non-profit, multi-service mental health center. For the next several years he held various positions at that agency, including Administrator and Deputy Director.

Long active as a volunteer, he was a founding member (and the second Board President) of Montgomery AIDS Outreach, where he developed and coordinated the community’s first World AIDS Day observance.

Simon is a graduate of Leadership Montgomery (Class IX) and was the first recipient of New Hope Metropolitan Community Church’s “Faithful Heart Award” in 1999. In 2007 he was recognized by Equality Alabama with their Lifetime Achievement Award. Simon is a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Montgomery.
