Social Justice Working Group
The SJWG sponsors and encourages Fellowship activities that promote the values in the UUA 8 principles and our covenant in our community. “Social justice is the equitable access to wealth, opportunities, rights, and privileges within a society.” (source)

As a small group, SJWG has decided to focus on four areas:
- People experiencing homelessness in Montgomery
- Gun Safety
- Freedom to Read
- Transgender Issues

Some Working Group Projects
Since its revitalization in 2025, SJWG has:
- Gathered and donated hygiene and food bags to people experiencing homelessness
Hygiene and Snack bags donated to people experiencing homelessness.
- Donated coats, sleeping bags, blankets, and other warm items to people experiencing homelessness
- Sponsored a postcard campaign urging selected Alabama Officials to vote yes on Senate Bill 116 and House Bill 156. The SJWG, with the help of the UUFM Fellowship, sends out postcards on issues monthly.
- Donated books to Free Libraries and attended Read Freely Alabama meeting

Fund us! So far, funding has come from the Fellowship Board and individual members of the working group.
