Sunday Services
Sunday services begin at 10:30 a.m.
There is no dress code; wear what makes you feel comfortable.
Children are always welcome in our services.
ASL interpretation is available for services if we are notified in advance.
Following the service, there is social time with coffee and snacks. At noon. adults have second hour to discuss the topic of the service, to participate in a book club, or other activity .
Our service begins with the reading of our welcome statement read. We share announcements, light the chalice, then we recite our covenant (found here). We sing from the Unitarian Universalist song book or listen to recorded music. We have a Story for All Ages. We have a time of sharing Joys and Sorrows. If you wish to have your Joy or Sorrow read aloud, write it in the book in the foyer or hand it directly to the Moderator. After the joys and sorrows are read aloud, the Moderator invites people from the congregation to come forward in silence and drop a small stone into a bowl of water, symbolizing our community. We take an offering each week, half of which goes to continuing the work of the ministry and the other half is donated to an organization doing work in the local community. During the offering each week we sing ‘Spirit of Life,’ a Unitarian Universalist hymn. Then there is a short talk and we sing to end the service.
After the service we enjoy snacks, coffee, and conversation outside, called ‘Chalice Cafe.’ We hope you can join us and we can get to know you better.
